Suggested Itineraries - Possible Ideas

1. Lymington - Solent - The Needles - Alum Bay - Cowes - Osbourne Bay - Lymington

Breakfast at the Marina Restaurant - overlooking The Solent to the Isle of Wight. Cruise down river into The Solent and past Hurst Castle on your way to The Needles Lighthouse, enjoying a dramatic view from the water. Then on to Alum Bay (famous for it's coloured sands). Back up The Solent past Yarmouth to Cowes, where you can moor for lunch, or proceed further up river to the famous riverside pub, The Folly Inn. After lunch, cruise to Osborne Bay to see Osborne House from the water. Make you way back westwards along the Solent to Lymington.

2. Lymington - Solent - Portsmouth Harbour - Lymington

Breakfast at Marina Restaurant. Head down river to The Solent and proceed eastwards passing Newtown Creek, Cowes, Osborne Bay, Ryde, Seaview to Portsmouth Harbour. On the west side you have Gosport, where you can explore the Maritime Museum. On the eastern shore is Gunwharf Quays, the stylish waterside complex with interesting modern architecture and converted naval buildings. Explore an array of shops for those looking for retail therapy, and lunch at one of the several waterfront restaurants. Or visit HMS Victory, Nelson's flagship or HMS Warrior. Instead of stopping at Gunwharf Quays you can proceed up river past the Royal Naval Ships to Port Solent, a locked marina at the top of the river, where you will find shops and restaurants. Have lunch then wind your way back down through Portsmouth Harbour, past Spinnaker Tower and westwards to Lymington.

3. Lymington - Solent - Beaulieu River - Cowes - Lymington

Breakfast at the Marina, leave Lymington and make your way down to Hurst Castle, The Needles, Alum Bay, Yarmouth and then up the Beaulieu River. Cruising this picturesque waterway you will arrive at Bucklers Hard, a small historic village with museum, naval cottages and old slipways, where many of Nelson's ships were built. Have lunch at a local pub and continue to Cowes and back to Lymington.

4. Lymington - Solent - Southampon Water - River Hamble - Lymington

Breakfast at the Marina. From Lymington cruise downriver to The Solent, past Beaulieu and into Southampton Water. Continue to the cruise liner docks and, depending upon schedules, see world cruise liners from the water - including Queen Mary II, Aurora and others. Then cruise up the River Hamble, and stop for lunch at a local restaurant or pub. After lunch, cruise down river and work your way back to Lymington.

Breakfast at the Marina. Then just relax, enjoy a day's cruise and take in the sights. Let your skipper plan the trip, leaving you to unwind and get away from it all, without any decisions to make.
